Redland Rockpit is a documentary capturing the story of South Florida's homeless dog population.

This homeless dog population is garnering mixed reactions. To some, it is a normal sight. To others, it is making living in the area almost unbearable. Even other states are getting involved to rescue these dogs as there is not enough local support. Pet overpopulation is a rampant issue. Euthanasia rates vary from shelter to shelter and comprehensive data across the United States remains difficult to obtain with numbers ranging from 500,000 dogs and cats combined to as high as 1.5 million combined. The difficulty in obtaining data lies in the number of shelters across the US, the reliability of their own reporting, if they even do report or even collect data, and if all shelters are included as there are many smaller shelters/organizations that might not be recognized in certain studies. This is a crisis we are not paying enough attention to. It can and must be stopped.
